Sheena Johnson, a native of Clinton, Miss., will begin her third season as a member of the UA Fort Smith women's basketball team.
Johnson, a 2006 graduate of Clinton High School, earned All-District, All-Conference and All-State honors and was the team MVP during her senior season. She also received the Best Defense, Best Offense and Heart of a Champion awards.
The 5-foot-5 sophomore played in only seven games as a true freshman before an injury ended her season. Johnson, who received a medical redshirt, averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game during that short span.
As a redshirt freshman, Johnson played in 36 games and averaged 7.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. She was second on the team in assists with 120 and was tied for third in steals with 64. She was second on the team with a 46.9 percent field-goal shooting percentage, including a 31.4 percent mark from 3-point range.
Johnson helped lead the Lady Lions to the Bi-State Conference East Division championship, the NJCAA Region II Tournament championship and a third-place finish in the NJCAA national tournament.
