Math

A student in the Learning Assistance Center

The math department provides instruction which helps prepare students for success in subsequent math or related courses required for graduation.

Developmental mathematics (or the required placement score) is a prerequisite for Beginning Algebra, Fundamental Mathematics of Science, and Technical Mathematics. Beginning Algebra (or the required placement score) is a prerequisite for Intermediate Algebra, Fundamentals of Electricity, and Business Mathematics.

Most students seeking a technical certificate or a 2-year or 4-year degree will need to take Developmental Math and/or Beginning Algebra. Placement scores will indicate which of these courses is needed.
