Additional Resources

The following are links to important information regarding the class schedule.

Wait List

Students on a wait list are responsible for checking their schedule on LionsLink to see if they have been registered in the course and for dropping courses they no longer want. New students may pick up the user name and password to their LionsLink account from Admissions 24 hours after they have registered.

IMPORTANT: Failure to follow these rules may result in being dropped from wait-listed courses:

  1. Students may not be registered and on a wait list for the same course.
  2. Students may not wait list more than one section of a course.
  3. Students may not wait list courses offered at the same time as a course in which they are already registered.
  4. Students must meet all pre- or corequisites for a wait-listed course.
  5. Students may not wait list a course which will put them beyond their maximum allowed credit hours.

Payment Policy

Payment for tuition and fees may be paid by cash, check, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover), or by payment arrangements. You may call 479-788-7060 to pay by credit card. Payment arrangements may be made through the Financial Aid Office for federal aid applicants/scholarship recipients, the Cashier's Office (located on the second floor of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. M-TH, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Fridays) for payment plans, or the Cashier's Office for third-party contracts. Failure to pay or make arrangements for payment by the payment deadline will result in a late payment fee of $75.

Payment Deadlines

Summer I 2008 - June 3, 2008
Summer II 2008- July 14, 2008
Fall 2008 - September 2, 2008

Withdrawal Policy

To officially withdraw from a course after Web registration has closed, students must complete a Change of Schedule form obtained from their advisor. The Change of Schedule Form requires the signatures of both the student and an advisor and must be processed by The Records Office. After the official reporting day, the signature of the instructor is also required.

Tuition Refunds

When a student officially withdraws from credit courses, tuition* will be refunded on a prorated basis according to the date of official withdrawal and the number of credit hours in which the student is enrolled. Students receiving financial aid who completely withdraw will have refunds calculated based on the federal refund policy. See the Summer/Fall 2008 Registration Calendar for all refund dates.

By enrolling in courses, you are responsible for your tuition, fees, and related charges. To receive a full refund for courses, you must officially withdraw before the first day of the term in which the course is scheduled. Failure to attend or pay does not constitute an official withdrawal from your course(s) and does not eliminate your financial obligation. Failure to withdraw may result in an "F" on your transcript.

* The $25 registration fee is nonrefundable.

Currently enrolled students need to check their registration status on-line through LionsLink before registration begins. To do this:

  • Select the My Courses tab.
  • Select Register from menu on the left side of the screen. (If you select Register and get an error message, please e-mail the help desk from your LionsLink e-mail address for assistance.)
  • Select Student Services and Financial Aid Menu.
  • Select Registration.
  • Select Check Your Registration Status. (Checking your registration status will show any holds preventing your registration and will show your priority registration day and time.)

Currently enrolled students who need to know who their faculty advisor is may do so on-line through Lionslink. To do this:

  • Select the My Courses tab.
  • Select Student Services and Financial Aid Menu from menu on the left side of the screen.
  • Select Student Records.
  • Select Major and advisor. Here you will see your major as declared in the University system and who your faculty advisor is (if assigned.) If the information shown here is incorrect please see an academic advisor in Student Advisement and Career Planning. Faculty advised students should visit with their advisor to receive help with the course requirements and selection. Your advisor will also need to remove your advising hold prior to registering. Email your advisor for an appointment.

New Students and Transfer Students

  • New students and transfer students with fewer than 12 hours will register through a New Student Orientation (NSO) session. Choose one of our session dates and sign up online today!
  • All transfer students need to submit their Official transcripts to the Records Office to be evaluated, but may register using unofficial transcripts or approved documents. Must have official/unofficial documents from all colleges attended in order to register. Please see the UA Fort Smith Calendar.

Visit Admissions for complete admissions requirements.

Residency Determination

State-supported colleges are required to collect documentary evidence of a student's permanent residency. Documentary evidence must be provided to support residency for "in-state" tuition for Arkansas and the surrounding border states of Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. If residency is in question or if you are seeking residency reclassification, you must submit documentary evidence. The requirement is six months permanent residency prior to the start of the semester for purposes other than attending college. If you do not provide the evidence to prove "in-state" residency, you will be classified as an "out-of-state" student for tuition purposes.

You must provide copies of any two acceptable forms of documentation from the following list.

  • Current permanent driver's license (at least six months old), bearing the address where you reside. Post office box addresses are not acceptable.
  • State automobile registration.
  • Statement from your employer indicating the date you were employed, length of service, and address where you reside.
  • Lease, which includes student's name and dates span six months minimum period.
  • Personal or real estate property tax statement from previous year.
  • Payment of State Income Tax.
  • Utility bills, dated to cover the six months immediately prior to the start of the semester, indicating the student's permanent address.

The residency classification of an unemancipated minor student (less than 18 years of age) or an unmarried dependent who has not attained the age of 23 is that of the legal parents or guardian.

Military Personnel

Military personnel assigned to active duty in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas shall be afforded in-state tuition.
