Seats are still available for the July 16 trip to Tulsa for “Wicked the Musical,” part of the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s Center for Lifelong Learning’s Spring 2009 Trips and Tours.
This Broadway hit tells the story of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, who would later become the Wicked Witch of the West, as they were before “The Wizard of Oz.” The show began its run on Broadway Oct. 30, 2003.
The Tulsa production features Marcie Dodd as Elphaba, Helene Yorke as Glinda, Marilyn Caskey as Madame Morrible and Tom McGowan as The Wizard. The show runs approximately two hours and 45 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission.
Children are welcome to accompany their parents on this trip to experience one of Broadway’s most popular shows. “Wicked” is recommended for children over the age of 8, due to scenes that can be scary or long. Children under 4 are not permitted.
Buses will leave the UA Fort Smith campus at 9 a.m. and will return around 6:30 p.m. the same day with a stop made for dinner. Cost is $119 and includes coach travel and show ticket.
Registration deadline is July 14, but spots are limited. For more information about the trip, contact the Center at 788-7220 or by e-mail at cll@uafortsmith.edu.
