Give. That’s the word from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith for two upcoming events a volunteer expo and a blood drive.
The fourth annual Volunteer Expo will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22. United Blood Services will conduct a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25. Both events are in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, and both are open to the public.
“The Volunteer Expo is a great opportunity to learn how to give back to your community,” said Stephanie London, student activities event coordinator. “Students and community members can visit with representatives from different organizations in the Fort Smith area by coming to one place at the Expo. All of these organizations need volunteers on a regular basis.”
London said they hope to attract a large group of students and staff, as well as community members, to the blood drive. All blood types are welcome.
“Donors may sign up in advance in front of the Lions Bookstore during the week of Sept. 15,” said London, “or they can sign up online at www.bloodhero.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. All participants will receive a free t-shirt, sandwiches, snacks and drinks.”
The two events are part of Service Week sponsored by the Student Activities Office at UA Fort Smith. For more information, call the Student Activities Office hotline at 788-7111 or London at 788-7697.
