Lynn Lisk Appointed to Arkansas Bar Association Mock Trial Committee (Posted: May 17, 2007)     (Printable Version)

Dr. Lynn Lisk, program director and assistant professor in the Legal Assistance/Paralegal program at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, has been appointed to the Mock Trial Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association.

The appointment will become official at the annual Arkansas Bar Association meeting in Hot Springs in June. This will be Lisk’s second year to serve in this capacity with the state association.

Dr. Lisk coordinated the regional Mock Trial Competition for the Arkansas Bar Association which was held on the UA Fort Smith campus in February, an event attracting more than 100 students from seven secondary schools in Arkansas.

Lisk, who came to UA Fort Smith in 2004, is a licensed attorney in Arkansas and Colorado and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the 5th, 8th and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, as well as the Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts for Arkansas and the Northern District of Texas. At the time he left active practice to teach at UA Fort Smith, he was averaging five court appearances per week.

He has been published in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Law Journal and had those articles cited by the courts and other scholarly writers as an authority on the issues involved. He has conducted numerous accredited continuing legal education courses for Arkansas attorneys.

Dr. Lisk was cited in 1998 as a top vote getter in the “Arkansas Times” survey of the best lawyers in Arkansas. He is currently a member of the American and Arkansas Bar Associations, American and Arkansas Trial Lawyers Associations, and Arkansas Attorneys for Consumer Protection.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University and his law degree from UALR. He has worked as a law clerk for Arkansas Supreme Court Justice David Newbern and for the Arkansas Worker’s Compensation Commission. Before opening his own law firm, his employment by other attorneys included handling lender liability litigation, personal injury litigation and criminal defense.
