Terri Bailey is the staff accompanist for the UA Fort Smith music department. Her duties include accompanying the choir, jazz band, Jazz Catz, junior and senior recitals, studio classes, private lessons, and weekly recitals.
Terri received a Bachelor of Music Education degree in pipe organ from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She spent 10 years teaching elementary music and beginning band in the Iowa and Nebraska public school systems. After moving to Fort Smith, she became a free lance musician and a private piano instructor. Terri has accompanied in the Fort Smith school system for 23 years. She has also accompanied for various churches, the Young Actor’s Guild, The UAFS Academy, community recitals, solo and ensemble contests, and many other events. She is also a member of the Don Bailey Jazz Combo that plays many gigs and fundraisers in the area.
Terri and her husband, Don (also in the UAFS music faculty) are co-founders of New Song Music, a company that publishes their original music compositions. They have written several solos for band instruments and small ensembles as well as a lot of Christian choruses, jazz band and vocal ensemble music. Theyhave written and produced several background tracks of familiar hyms that can be used for instrumental performances. Their latest and most extensive work is Jazz Suite – A Retrospective, which is a 12 movement jazz piece for symphony orchestra and jazz band.
