How do I sign up for an audition or interview?
Call or e-mail
Zeke Cook, the Music Department Secretary, at 479-788-7558, or e-mail
Music. After you select a time and date for your audition, a postcard confirming your audition date and time will be mailed to you.
What should I do if I can’t attend my audition appointment?
Call or email us and let us know at least 24 hours in advance, whenever possible. It's polite, and the right thing to do. We will be happy to reschedule your audition at another time.
What should I expect when I visit to audition?
Audition days start around 10:00 a.m. with a reception for prospective students and their families. Throughout the morning there are scheduled activities, such as visiting classes, a campus tour, and a brief recital featuring UA Fort Smith Music students. Auditions start around 2:00 p.m. and run throughout the afternoon, and practice rooms will be available for warming up and rehearsing.
During the actual audition you will perform your prepared materials (for more information on audition requirements click here) on your instrument for the faculty members in your chosen area (vocal or instrumental). You may also be asked to sight-read. The UA Fort Smith faculty strives to make the audition experience as comfortable for you as possible.
I can’t make any of the audition dates. How can I schedule another date and time to audition?
It is highly recommended that students audition on one of the pre-arranged campus dates, as the audition dates offer prospective students and their families information sessions and optional tours of the Music Building and University campus. If attendance at one of these dates is not possible due to extenuating circumstance, please contact the Music Department secretary,
Zeke Cook , to schedule another time (479-788-7558; or e-mail
Music).
How can I learn about other financial aid opportunities at UA Fort Smith?
For academic scholarship information and other types of financial aid, visit
http://www.uafortsmith.edu/Finaid/. On the day of your audition, you will be given a financial aid packet for your review and consideration.
Is there anything I can do BEFORE I come to UA - Fort Smith to better prepare me for the placement exam and my theory classes in general?
