The essence of the department’s mission is to provide opportunities for the education and preparation of music students in an environment that fosters creative, compassionate, articulate, and informed individuals. The department also provides first-rate educational experiences for music minors and for other students from across the campus. In supporting its mission, the UA Fort Smith Music Department upholds the highest artistic and academic standards. Additionally, we are committed to reaching out to the community by offering educational and culturally diverse programs and performances.

We have an excellent faculty who are dedicated to teaching, musical performance, and scholarship. They have studied at the finest institutions across the nation, and continue to perform regionally, nationally, and internationally.
