Nominee Campaign Rules
Finances- Each candidate running for the Homecoming 2008 may spend a maximum of $100.00.
- Each candidate is required to keep accurate, up-to-date records of all campaign receipts and expenditures, which must be submitted to the Student Homecoming Advisor by Monday, February 18, 2008.
Campaign Materials
1 All campaign materials for distribution must be approved and stamped (if applicable) by the University. Please see Stephanie London in the Freshman Center/Student Activities Office for approval.- Posters (8.5”x11”) are allowed to be posted inside campus buildings on Student Activities bulletin boards. However, posters may not be placed on glass doors and paint. Posters must be stamped by the Student Activities Office. Posters and banners are not allowed to be put on brick.
- Banners, posters or other signs may not be placed in such a way as to obstruct traffic flow or disrupt students from getting to class.
- Banners, posters or other signs may not be placed on or near the Bell Tower.
- E-mails are allowed to solicit votes for Homecoming election purposes. However, e-mail distribution lists will not be provided by the University.
- Campaigning in classes is left to the discretion of the instructor.
- Flyers or other campaign materials may be distributed in class if the instructor allows such distribution. Flyers or other campaign materials may be distributed outside of classrooms in the hallways. (Refer to #1)
- Use of the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith logo is permissible on campaign materials.
- Negative campaigning (both verbal and written) is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
- All campaign materials must be removed by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008.
- University funds and property of the University, excluding computers, may not be used to design or reproduce campaign materials.
- University copiers and printers are completely prohibited from use for reproducing campaign material.
- Use of motorized vehicles for campaign purposes is allowed only in UA Fort Smith parking lots.
Homecoming Process
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be nominated by and member of a recognized student organization, athletic group, or cheer squad.
- Have a 2.50 cumulative or higher grade point average.
- Must be enrolled full-time at UA Fort Smith (12 or more credit hours)
- Be voted on by student body, go through the interview process, and submit a resume and Homecoming application.
- All candidates must have completed 15 credit hours from UA Fort Smith.
METHOD OF CHOOSING
VOTING – 50%- Each student with UA Fort Smith student ID will be allowed one (1) vote.
- Students are allowed to campaign during designated times and locations.
- Each candidate will go through a personal interview with Homecoming judges, director, and advisor.
- The nominee will complete the Homecoming application and submit a resume to be viewed by the Homecoming judges, director, and advisor.
