How can my student participate in Greek Life?
Students must be enrolled in 12 credit hours, no more than three of which may be developmental. They must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and they must maintain this GPA to remain involved in fraternities and sororities.

The sororities and fraternities may have additional academic requirements to join or maintain good standing.

Is alcohol a part of Greek Life at UA Fort Smith?
In accordance with current University policy, a “No Alcohol” stance will be taken for all events (on- or off-campus). Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, a meeting of fraternity/sorority leaders with the Greek Life coordinator, director of student programs and/or the vice chancellor for student and campus life. A call may be placed to the national fraternity/sorority office. Additional sanctions including probation or suspension will be considered.

Will you have fraternity and sorority houses?
At this point, there will not be traditional fraternity and sorority houses. Students involved in a fraternity or sorority are not required to live in a specific house, apartment, or on a specific floor. At the appropriate time, the housing policy may be re-evaluated.

Grades are very important to me. How can I ensure that my student will keep up his/her grades?
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 in order to participate in Greek Life. This minimum cumulative GPA must also be maintained while involved in Greek Life. Fraternities and sororities typically offer study hall for those students who may need extra help.

What does Greek Life have to offer my student?
Greek Life offers leadership training on a national and local level. It also provides life-long friendships and networking opportunities. Fraternities and sororities donate thousands of hours each year in community service.

Greek Life gives your student another opportunity for leadership development, life-long friendships, community service, academic achievement, building team work, and character development.
