These competencies were identified as goals of the Boreham Library instruction program:

• Construct a Search Strategy Relevant to the Information Need
• Identify Resources Appropriate to the Information Need
• Locate Books, Periodicals, and other Information in the Boreham Library
• Use Interlibrary Loan and other information systems to find information

Objectives for Library Instruction

Below are the objectives established for tutorials in the Library Tutorials series. Each group of objectives should be achievable on completion of the tutorial content, the exercise for the tutorial, and after actual practice with library research.

3. Understand the purpose and organization of the Library of Congress Subject Headings.
