ARKLink Cards

Faculty and currently enrolled students may apply for an academic statewide card. The ARKLink card allows U A – Fort Smith students and faculty the privilege of borrowing library materials from other colleges and universities in Arkansas. Click here for more information. Please come by the library to sign up.

Connecting From Off-Campus

Most of the electronic resources of the Boreham Library may be accessed from off-campus. A simple user name and faculty I.D. login is all that is required. Click here for instructions.

Interlibrary Loan

The Boreham Library, through its affiliation with the OCLC Bibliographic database, has access to over 70 million items worldwide for possible loan. If you need a book or journal article to support your instructional goals or you are pursuing an advanced degree, you may submit an ILL in one of the following ways:

  • Create an account in our ILLiad system (linked from the Boreham Library main page) and place a request.
  • If searching within a database, click on the ILL or Interlibrary Loan link.
Contact Sharon Freeman at Ext. 7201 with any questions.

Liaison Librarians

Each UA Fort Smith curriculum subject is assigned to a librarian who will assist faculty in locating new material for possible order, weeding of old material, and helping with special projects.

First Search for Faculty or Mediated Database Searches

Additional databases, such as Dissertation Abstracts, are available to current faculty and staff through the First Search service. Reference librarians will also be happy to meet with faculty and mediate searches to paid databases via Dialog. Faculty may access the authorization number and password from the "My Library Record" option in the Boreham Library Online Catalog. Click on the Special Instructions link. You may also contact a reference librarian for password access to this system.

Course Reserves

Materials may be put in the Reserve Room for your students to use or scanned into electronic format for use on or off campus. Students can search under either your name or the class name to locate your assignments. Review the Copyright Guidelines for Faculty and then click here for instructions. Contact Tina Brown at x7214 to discuss your options.

Bibiographic management software

RefWorks

RefWorks is a citation management software program that collects, stores, and organizes citations from books, journal articles, web sites, and other sources. It automatically converts citations into properly formatted bibliographies using the style (MLA, APA, CBE, etc.) that you select. Citations can be imported directly from a research database or typed in manually.

First time users must create a personal account from a campus network computer. Off-campus access requires a Group Code. Click here to look it up.

Suggesting Library Materials

The library staff would like your help in making the Boreham Library collection as useful and up-to-date for you and your students as possible. We welcome your book, journal, and audiovisual recommendations. Click here for information on submitting requests.
