Reserves

Faculty members who wish to place materials on reserve are responsible for supplying information in regard to those materials. The Reserve Materials Technician (788-7214) or the Public Services Librarian (788-7217) should be notified of the class for which the materials are to be used, the length of the checkout period, and the date for removal from the Reserve Room.

Materials should be sent to the library at least a week before they will be needed by students to allow time for processing. Reserve materials will be removed from the Reserve Room at the end of each semester unless the librarian is notified.

For any given set of reserves, there is a limit of three reserve items per checkout per person.

Instructors are encouraged to make sure that materials have been received and processed by library staff before making assignments to students.

Fines and Overdues

  1. There is a three-day grace period automatically given by the computer.
  2. Fines on overdue items are 10 cents per day, to include holidays and weekends. Reserve material fines are 25 cents per day up to the total price of that item. Laptop computer fines are $10 per hour.
  3. A fine on a single item should not exceed the total price of that item.
  4. Maximum fines on all overdue items together should not exceed $50.
  5. Maximum fine on single pamphlets is $5 each.
Patrons with overdue books or library fines from Boreham Library or Fort Smith Public Library are not allowed library borrowing privileges, the right to obtain transcripts, or registration clearance for UA Fort Smith or University Center credit classes until all library obligations have been met.

Public Access to Databases and the Internet

Access to research databases and the internet by the general public is restricted to two workstations on the first floor. Users must sign in and leave appropriate identification at the circulation desk. Printing is limited to 10 pages per day.
