Each academic program has a five-year assessment plan, which is stored in LiveText. You need to know the LiveText username for your college and its password in order to access a plan template in LiveText. Contact the CALO co-chair to get this information. The plan contains the following:
- Four program-specific goals (or outcomes) that students have upon graduation from the program of study
- Two direct measures for each program outcome
- Two assessment targets for each program outcome
- Two University Learning Outcomes (ULOs) that students have upon graduation from the program of study
- Two direct measures for each ULO
- Two assessment targets for each ULO
- Names of faculty members who are responsible for the plan and assessments
Direct measures provide evidence of actual learning. Here are some examples of direct measures:
- Standardized test
- Locally designed quiz, test, or paper
- Student portfolio
- Capstone project
- Performances, products, or creations
- Case study
- Professional or disciplinary practices (e.g., medical students interacting with patients)
- Team-based or collaborative projects
- Internships or service projects
- Oral examination
- Measurements by rubrics or checklist
Each academic program must create or update its CALO plan by September 15 of each year.
