Lion Lingo: Commonly used terms at UA Fort Smith

Block Party – student organization fair, held each semester to give students the opportunity to get involved

Blue Crew – student athletic section at UA Fort Smith games

Campus Center (Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center) – the campus student hub; home of the Freshman Center/Student Activities Office, Food Court, Campus and Community Events, the Campus Store, Admissions, Student Advisement, Financial Aid, Records, Career Services, and much more!

"The Commons" – Sebastian Commons student apartments

Cub Camp – three-day, two-night experience for first-time, full-time students held each August

Discovery Test – career interest inventory offered by Career Services; free to all UA Fort Smith students

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) – UA Fort Smith’s FAFSA code is 001110

FAST (Freshmen Assisting Students Together) –an organization for highly-motivated and diverse first-time, full-time freshmen to shape UA Fort Smith leaders of tomorrow

FOL (Foundations of Learning) – UA Fort Smith’s freshman success course

Freshman Center – provides programs, guidance and assistance to all students; located in Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center 115

"The Green" (Reynolds Campus Green and Bell Tower) – site of many campus events

LAC (Learning Assistance Center) – offers free group tutoring and other academic assistance

LionsLink – UA Fort Smith’s intranet

NSO (New Student Orientation) – for first-time students who are younger than 22 years of age

OARS – Office of Adult and Returning Students

RLA (Residential Life Assistant) – students who assist the residents of Sebastian Commons student apartments

Season of Entertainment – concerts and national touring productions; events are free or discounted for students
