National CHEA Award Goes to UA Fort Smith
The Council for Higher Education Accreditation has awarded the 2010 CHEA Award for Outstanding Institutional Practice in Student Learning Outcomes to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, one of four institutions in the nation and the only Arkansas university to receive one of the awards in 2010. The award will be presented at the 2010 CHEA Annual Conference, which will be held Jan. 25-28 at the Marriott Hotel Washington in Washington, D.C. Dr. John Jones, dean of the College of Education at UA Fort Smith, said the CHEA Award recognizes university excellence in establishing goals for students (student learning outcomes), designing assignments and lessons that help students achieve those goals, measuring student success and reflecting on ways to improve instruction and maintain a program that is constantly growing and developing. “Our College of Education does all of those things in a systematic and intentional way,” said Dr. Jones. “I believe some of the strongest points in our award application were our use of technology to track student progress and our collaboration with school district partners in a relentless revision process that strengthens our college.” To read the full press release, click here2009 Finalist for the AASCU Christa McAuliffe for Excellence in Teacher Education Award
