  • Coming in September 2006.
  • Contact Kevin Clay, Quality Systems Instructor and Consultant for more information.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training (10 week, 3hrs per week … Cost:$1549 per Student)

  • At the heart of Six Sigma improvement and redesign activities are project teams. These teams will consist of people who want to use their knowledge and skills to improve the performance of processes and the business. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training is focused on team members understanding and applying the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve and Control model which is the foundation of all Six Sigma projects. The focus of “Six Sigma” is fundamentally about quality, customer focus and cost, where as Lean is about cost and speed. This Six Sigma Training course blends a number of Lean concepts and tools into the Six Sigma DMAIC model.

  • The team leaders and team members are the brains and muscle behind the Lean Six Sigma program. This Six Sigma Training Course equips delegates with the appropriate skills and tools to enable them to deliver current and future improvements.

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Training Course Objectives: At the end of Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training course delegates will understand and be able to:

    • Apply the principles of the Six Sigma DMAIC performance improvement model.
    • Establish the “Voice of the Customer” in defining the required performance standard.
    • Use a number of measurement approaches and tools to establish current performance.
    • Use appropriately a number of basic analysis tools and techniques to establish the root causeof a problem.
    • Understand key lean concepts and tools, when and how to apply them to drive improvements
    • Recognize the difference in approach and techniques for incremental and redesign improvement strategies and know how to decide on the correct approach.
    • Establish ongoing process controls and process governance structures

Charges

UA Fort Smith's Center for Business and Professional Development is a State of Arkansas institution and seeks only to off-set the direct costs of training, consulting, and auditing personnel plus the associated costs for travel, materials and copies. The standard fees are $125.00 per hour for consulting and auditing activities. Actual costs of travel, overnight stays, meals, reproduction of materials and associated items are charged. These charges would also include any on-site or off-site (e.g. prep time) time spent on behalf of a client.

Cost for Instruction is set on a per-hour basis and the cost is commensurate with the skill or discipline being instructed. Contact Kevin Clay, Quality Systems Instructor and Consultant for more information.

Guarantee

If UA Fort Smith's Center for Business and Professional Development work is not satisfactory for any reason, we ask two things: first, let us know immediately of any concerns so we can attempt to correct them as soon as possible, and, second, allow us to do the work over at no charge. If that is not practical, we will not invoice you and try to help you find someone who can perform the work needed.

Grants

There are sources of grant monies within the State to help develop Arkansas industries. These monies can off-set the out-of-pocket expenses associated with these activities.

For Training — The Arkansas Department of Economic Development (ADED) offers an Existing Workforce Training Program (EWTP) grant which provides a company, that has a minimum of five employees enrolled for a training course the opportunity to receive a rebate of $50 per classroom hour or 50% of the training cost, whichever is less. These monies are earmarked for training only.

For Consulting — The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority (ASTA) offers a Technology transfer Assistance Grant (TTAG) in two denominations, $2,500 and $5,000. The latter requires a $1,250 company match. These grants are for consulting, no training allowed, and can off-set the costs of consulting by a great margin. Currently, companies are allowed two of these grants within a fiscal year (July - June).

NOTE: Previous experience is certainly no guarantee for the future and these grants are dependent on the availability of funding and approval of the agencies.
