March

29th — The UA Fort Smith Spring Gardening Clinic will be held in room 104 of the Math-Science Building. Admission is free, with refreshments, door prizes, educational programs, and displays. Registration begins at 8:00 am. Topics to include: Drought-Tolerant Plants and Drip Irrigation, Tree Topping: Myths and Misconceptions, and Combating Lawn Weed Problems. Door prizes will be given away following the educational sessions. For more information, call 788-7170.


April


18th — The International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Exam will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. For more information contact Pete Rausch at 501-374-8733, or go to http://www.isa-arbor.com/.

Certified Tree Worker practical exam (climber) will be held at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 3805 W. 12th Street in Little Rock starting at 1:00 pm after the ISA exam.


26th — Arkansas Earth Day Festival 2008 - Join the largest Earth Day celebration in Arkansas produced by Arkansas Earth Day Foundation and the William J. Clinton Foundation. To be held at the William J. Clinton Presidential Park in North Little Rock, AR. Start time of festival at 11:00 am with an evening concert scheduled from 7 pm to 11 pm. 17th — Arkansas Native Plant ID Workshop will be held at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, in Morrilton. Participants will be introduced to many of Arkansas' most important native trees, shrubs, vines and wildflowers and will learn the basic skills needed to identify those species. This is an outdoor event so come prepared for the weather and to walk some trails. Registration fee is $100 plus tax. Includes instructor's fee, all meals, transportation to the trails and materials.
