The Friendship Bridge

I crossed over the bridge of friendship
And as I did so
My muddy waters
Flowed swiftly beneath.

I turned around to see the damage that was done
And saw that the bridge had been left shattered
And filled with splinters.
It had not fallen nor had it burned,
And now the water had begun to run clear.

I now begin to wonder,
Could a bridge be crossed again
That was left so weak and frail?

Instead of giving me your hand,
Will you take mine
And help me
Walk the rail?
